A Bit About Melanie
Melanie Hooks started life as an Army kid, hearing new accents and stories from Oklahoma and Texas to Virginia and Illinois. She continued the journey as an adult, living in Wales, Hawaii, England, Oregon and California.
Along the way, she picked up a Masters in Teaching and has spent two decades instructing writers from ages 6-86, a love that continues in her staff position with Southern California Writers Conference, where she co-leads the science fiction/fantasy read and critiques with editor and novelist Laura Perkins and leads a variety of craft workshops.
After receiving an Honors Certificate from UCLA Extension in Screen and TV Writing, she specializes in comedy features and dramatic TV, featuring strong-willed dames and unsung heroes. She indulges her love of theater, real life characters and history on the pages of ColoradoBlvd.net, a Pasadena online and print magazine, which she’s also been known to edit.
In her spare time, she’s slowly acquired an audio performance resume as well, with her first novel narration out soon for Plagued! The Zombie Counteractant Experiment from Better Hero Army.
